Mental and Physical health problems cost the UK economy at least £117.9 billion annually
According to a new report published March 2022 by Mental Health Foundation and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The cost of mental and physical health problems is equivalent to around 5 per cent of the UK’s GDP.
British businesses lost an average of 38 working days per employee to physical and mental health related absence and presenteeism in 2019.
Staff Turnover Problems?
Minimising the risk of losing valued employees is another reason to invest in mental health at work. It costs businesses, on average, £1576 per year PER employee, due to staff health problems Almost 25% of people have left their job due to mental health issues.
31% of staff said that they would consider leaving their current role within the next 12 months if stress levels in their organisation did not improve.
